This event will inspire you.

This special showing is carefully created with you in mind. This devastating story of loss is inspired by the dream Luke Bernard had after his near death experience in a serious car accident that should have killed him. True-to-life miracle after miracle took Luke from having to relearn basic things like speaking and writing, to draft this screen-play that later became a hit film in theaters across the Globe.

  • Teaching on favoritism and how our perception may not always be the perception may not be that of our children, siblings, or other family members.

  • A prayer resource to encourage your unsaved friends. I show them the healing power of God's love.

  • Even though this film is based on true events, you can connect this story to your personal life and gain a deeper revelation of how Christ views us.

PERCEPTION ISN'T REALITY
                        BUT A FATHER'S LOVE IS

PERCEPTION ISN'T REALITY
                        BUT A FATHERS LOVE IS

Benjamin Bernard has always wanted to be the favorite son, but his brother, Luke, is loved more, or so he perceives. To cope with his anger and resentment, Benjamin becomes a mixed-martial arts fighter. After a life-changing event, one brother must now fight not only for his life while his brother fights for his relationships with his friends, family, and God. One brother is healed physically and the other is transformed spiritually. This family film explores love, forgiveness, loss, healed relationships, and, ultimately, the realization that we are all God's Favorite.  The Favorite hits theaters this September.

The Story Behind The Favorite

INSPIRATION
March 9, 2013, Luke Bernard was in a near-fatal car accident. He entered L.A. County Hospital with barely a pulse. He had a GCS of 3 with dilated and fixed pupils, and had a zero chance of survival. The neurosurgeon performed emergency surgery. A 4 x 5 inch piece of his skull was needed to be removed allowing the damaged brain to swell. Doctors removed two blood clots on his brain. He had two broken vertebrae in his neck and back, as well as facial and rib fractures. Thousands were mobilized to pray for complete recovery. Luke had a miraculous recovery, returning home to Florida after six weeks in the hospital.

DREAM BECOMES MOVIE
Two months after returning home, Luke had a cranioplasty to replace his skull. Those with brain trauma typically have insomnia. Luke was no exception. However, one evening he had a deep sleep and God gave him a dream. The next morning, he was excited that he had slept and told his parents about the dream. His parents encouraged him to write down the dream, believing it would be good for his rehab. One month and 90 pages later, Luke had written the first draft of
The Favorite. Six months prior to this, Luke was relearning to write his name.

ABOUT THE FILM
The Favorite is about two brothers. One brother, Luke, is a star college soccer player verging on a pro career. Since soccer is their father's favorite sport, Benjamin perceives that his brother is the favorite. Ben pursues MMA fighting in hopes to win his father’s favor.

One night, the two brothers reluctantly agree to go on a double date and are in a car accident. In the accident, Luke suffers the same injuries as the real-life Luke Bernard and experiences a miraculous recovery. Through a series of events, brother Benjamin realizes that his perceptions of favoritism were skewed and he must reconcile with God, his father and brother.
